The Global Atheist Convention 2010 is being held in Melbourne, Australia in March.

You can find more information here :
http://www.atheistconvention.org.au

Please note: this video is meant as a joke like many other of the same 'meme'. It is not meant to make light of the tragedy of the Holocaust or the suffering that millions endured under the hands of Hitler and the Nazis.

Addendum:

Many commenters are discussing the relationship of Hitler and religion. A good resource on this topic is :

  • Hiter was not religious. He only labeled himself christan because most people back then were like that, and it would get him a lot of respect.

Obama lables himself as a christan. and look was happening now, he has a war on religion, a true liar he is.

religion bashers have to get thier facts straight.

  • @Truehuman11 read the nobeliefs link in the description. Hitler was very much a believer, he could have got rid of the church but no, much of the basis of his politics and speeches were based around his interpretation of scripture. The problem is people like yourself won't ever see it as a problem, and will always pass these believers off as 'no true scotsman' fallacy.

  • I really want to laugh, but the fact that "Downfall" is one of the most intense movies I've seen in the last few years, it's really hard. Bruno Ganz is just way too good in this role!! Someone should pick a sucky Hitler so that I can get a good chuckle.

  • @MissMidoria yea, I did it as a bit of a quick laugh, looking back on it there would be a lot I would change.

Tempted to redo it tho for the 2012 Global Atheist Convention ;)

  • This is perfect! If the translation is accurate, this is pretty solid evidence that Hitler was a christian after all. Does anybody know what year the conference was in Melbourne? Since it's in color it must have been shortly before Hitler died. ;)

  • @BigIdeaSeeker The 2010 Global Atheist Convention was in March in Melbourne Australia, the next is in 2012 again in Melbourne and looking to be bigger, better and brighter ;) type Global Atheist Convention into google.

  • the christian meme is worse than Hilter

  • My only problem as with this video speaking as an atheist is it is falling into the same trap that many theists fall in to: 'If you aren't with us, you are against us.' Yes that WAS Hitler's philosophy (& Jesus' too!) however it is unfair to tar ALL theists with the same brush.

We don't really know whether Hitler really WAS a believer (He SAID he was) -or if he was an atheist either.

The Catholic church didn't do much to prevent him from gaining power & the certainly didn't criticize fascism.

  • He truly deserves more recognition for his acting skills in this movie. Beats the shit out of anything Hollywood has to offer. Nice vid btw! :)

No it wasn't. The convention organisers applied for the same state funding that the Parliament of World Religions received and they were denied.

The federal government did not fund either event.

The Global Atheist Convention and the presence of the speakers who presented at it was funded by the attendees.

  • @ScienceMoreHarderer Except it was.....

  • @ngrep Learn some history. He would in no way have been able to get rid of the Church in Germany. Look at the protests that happened when they tried publically to kill downs syndrome babies. Bishop Galen put a stop to it. Now could Hitler be called a Christian. Not particuarly. He was Baptised in the Catholic Church but never participated in the Sacraments since childhood. It's difficult to call him an atheist but he was certainly not a Christian. And please learn what the NTS fallacy is

  • @Ohyewildthong

This convention, and Dawkins' presence at it, was not paid for by the Australian tax payer. The Parliament of World Religions, held in the same venue, on the other hand, was funded by the Victorian state government.

  • @musoderelict Oh! So you believe in genies as well? Makes sense, they ARE as real as each other. In all the history of the bible until the present day, have you EVER heard of the prayers of an amputee being answered? Lizards get more love from god, they get a new tail when they lose one. We don't get so much as a little finger. It's not a matter of acting on demand, an amputee's prayer is a plea for mercy. He may as well talk to the hand he hasn't got, for all the good it will do.
