  • @KaedanIR Nice comments, but I'd still say Windows NT has a larger programming community, Linux simply can't rival it. But the QUALITY of the community works the OTHER way... XD

  • @Outlander999 Unity for me has been shit. But when you are at the login screen for 11.04 you can choose the "Ubuntu Classic" desktop. Gnome wins over Unity in my opinion. Unity is to "consumer friendly" for me. To much design and not good function.

  • @KaedanIR The benefits of Windows are largely due to large market share not out of superior quality. If Ubuntu had a bigger market share with more software and games, many people would jump on to Ubuntu.

  • @Outlander999 I accualy had gnome, but Unite is kind of better. I dont know, but it feels so handy and its easy to manipulate .. no annoying Bars, almost every space on the screen is clear and the theme itself is awesome :))

For me Unite rules, because I like that space :)

  • I'm thinking to install my first Linux (Ubuntu 11.04 just released).

I seen some Unity videos, but seems that GNOME is better :)

    Right?

  • Hey pc wizkid, I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10. But couldn't fully install it, its just a partition. It wouldn't install through the cd I made. So I had to download the microsoft one. But its just stopping for no reason. And I want to fully install it. Please help. I really liked this OS, and that u can install software online instead of keeping a bunch of disks.

  • @TheArceus12345 That's because a lot of them are using the Gnome desktop environment. A lot of distros use it because it is very customizable. But there is many more to choose from, such as: KDE, XFCE, LXDE, etc. I could on and on and on..

  • @LeGiiTxGameing It should go faster. I installed it on my Emachines computer and it is MUCH faster compared to Windows Vista. If I were you I would check to see if your hardware is compatible with Ubuntu (which it probably will be) by either using a live CD or just by Googling it. Have fun!
