This is a song I worked on sporadically for about two weeks. It was interesting combining two very different genres, rap and acoustic, together. It is also featured on the upcoming Canadian Cancer Society 10th Anniversary album! Hope you like it and leave a comment :)
Here are the lyrics:
(V1) Who said anything about rockstars
Flashin' red and blue like these cop cars?
He says "Test me boy" but lest we forget
This kid's just a big wreck, he's next to zip, boy.
I kid you not, the kid's got plot
Risin' action, climaxin' one-two shot
Off-camera back to his pretentious ways
Funny how the world works these days
The pinnacle is cynical, my flows
Criticized, they all screamin' "all time low"
You can hate me, beat me, critique me
But I'm a free man, metaphorically speaking
Creation wasted in the hallway
Imagination faded away.
I live 9 to 5, but I'll still survive the I-95
As you drive the ride.
(Ch.) Oh, seize the day.
Don't be insecure about the days we made.
As time slowly ticks away, forget about it all, just forget about it all and live today.
(V2) Matchmaker's back, the tactic is attackin'.
So sit back and get back to relaxin'.
Oh, I tell you spittin' is a contradiction
My diction so precise, you'd think it's fiction.
Flash it backwards, kick it in reverse
More rap than Saran, flip me and be the inverse.
Baby, be my superhero, save me?
Is savin' me really worth amazin' me?
I didn't mean to get all up in your face
Just like society who dictates your place
Chargin' extra because of your race
Make a buck by rollin' doubles and layin' down aces
I speak like it's all intentional
But the clarity of the message is my potential
And you got dreams deep down inside
Tell me, do they shine past the tears that you cry?
(Bridge/Chorus)
