  • I completely agree with rockinmosquito. Buddy most definitely would have been a headliner at Woodstock. A great deal of the performers at Woodstock had been influenced by Buddy's music. Waylon once said that the best advice he ever got came from Buddy. God bless them both.

  • thanks for the post. great man, named my son after him. waylon in peace

  • @rockinmosquito - That has nothing to do with the question I put forth about wondering what Buddy would've thought of the issues of the 60s. Would've he have been a country redneck and disliked the long hairs and the dope, music, etc. or would've he joined and embraced it? We'll never know.

  • @Bopalena With all due respect, we had the Beatles because of the Crickets. Hendrix had some of Buddy in him, Mr. Holly would have been a headliner at Woodstock, Civil Rights Buddy was about a decade ahead of that -- The FIRST white act at the Apollo, hello.

  • "Richardson had developed a case of flu during the tour and asked Waylon Jennings for his seat on the plane. When Holly learned that Jennings wasn't going to fly, he said in jest, "Well, I hope your ol' bus freezes up" and Jennings responded, also in jest, "Well, I hope your ol' plane crashes". This exchange of words would haunt Jennings for the rest of his life."

  • @matthewosmond1984 Correct Waylon gave his seat to Richardson who had the flu,

Allsup tossed a coin and Valens called it and ended up in his seat

  • @countrysinger3658 I thought Tommy Allsup gave his seat to Ritchie and Waylon gave his to the Big Bopper

  • WAYLON rite there with elvis but i think better
