Despite signing the Kyoto protocol, Australia - along with the US, Canada and Japan - is resisting pressure to agree to deep cuts to greenhouse gas emissions.

That's unwelcome news for parts of the globe where the effects of climate change are already being felt.

Marga Ortigas went to Sultan Kudarat in the southern Philippines, where she found farmers struggling to deal with unpredictable weather.

  • @pheonixheroes You have to understand that even if Filipinos can speak English it doesn't mean they have to. There are six languages natively spoken in the Philippines, which again are split up into local dialects. When we speak with each other we use our language. If you want to join in on Asian topics, learn the the Asian languages.

  • @picadilio Ahm... look at the Philippines, seriously! When the Philippines are shown on TV in other countries? It doesn't matter from which country, the reports always look like that or are even worse. The most devastating thing is that they're true.

  • ALJAZEERA........All your news about the Philippines are negative. Why? Is Philippines the only country in Southeast Asia suffer from economic and political problems?

  • me mas abnormal pa ba sa weather d2 sa holland.....

  • called HAARP

  • the erratic weather pattern has been going on for centuries which Filipino farmers learned to adapt

it's lack of support and technical support from the government in order to produce a bountiful harvest, it is the reason the farmers are still using primitive procedures in tilling their land which takes so much time and efforts
