2010 White Rim Trail in a day - Canyonlands - Moab, UT

Another adventure with Tom, this time we decided to do the White Rim Trail in a day - 100 miles and about 6,000 of vertical. Bit of a challenge at the end though, the last mile (and 1,000 feet of vert) was washed out, so we had to hike our bikes out on our backs. Not to mention the beach deep sand from mile 90 on. All in all it was a great ride, I'd gladly do again. I've got October 16 booked into my calendar to try the White Rim in a day, which is one year from when you did it. What was the wind like that day? What was the name of the places where your heart rate spiked to 170? Were those uphills on the easiest gears on the front and back rings? Did you have to walk any of the hills?

No wind per se, but lots of loose sand so plan accordingly. We didn't have enough water (I only brought 100oz in my camelback, next time it will be that + two full bottles) - but I brought iodine tablets so we could safely drink water from the river.
We had to hike out at the end because the road was washed out at Mineral Bottom. I understand that's fixed now. If I were you i'd camp at Mineral Bottom the night before, so you start your day with that climb instead of ending with it. Have fun!
