I think deaf people are like everyone else, I'm taking ASL because I want to talk to deaf people.

@truevoiceofsanity haha! I know this is an old comment but I'd like to discuss it. I have NO IDEA how to describe that kind of thing now! I've lost some of my hearing and have been using ASL as a major mode of communication whenever possible, suppose I've had a conversation or saw someone discuss something using asl and I tell someone about it in English, I feel so awkward saying "They said" or "I heard" or anything like that xD Feels awkward!

@nikaxnika My daughter is an ASL interpretor and when I first meet her ASL friends they tend to ignore me. But they realize that even though I don't sign I understand much of what is said by them and can express myself in a way that they understand. Eventually I am accepted. I like this.

I argee with you!
Deaf people tend to stick together as a group and limit themselves from the world because they have this attitude that hearing people are putting them down. Were in new world and generation where deaf and HOH people become more accepted by hearing people just like how African American became more accepted by white people. Did you know that many hearing people who love or want to be part of deaf culture feel unwelcomed and treated are unkindly too?
