bro, I have to disagree. I've been a moodies fan for over 30 years now, I have every recording they ever made. From vinyl, cassette tapes, to cd's.
I've seen them live FIVE (5) times now. I've seen them in outside venues, Jones Beach,(NY) Blossom Music Center (OH), Richfield Coliseum (OH) and the Beacon Theater (NYC). The Beacon was the smallest venue.
I've seen them with orchestra accompaniment and without. They sound just as good as their recordings either way.
Fade outs are never part of a live performance. Especially telling is the continued playing by Pinder of the mellotron part on a B3 after the fade. Vox are live.
@Ridgebark Hmmm. Why do you think that is? It can be mind boggeling, yet we see Justin singing. I"m beside myself at this point. Is it live or memorex?
Just double checked: the singinging is definitely live after all. The Mellotron and piano must be on a backing tape. Can't be sure about the guitars or drums. My checking is done purely by listening to the sound. YouTube is out of sync most of the time. Mellotrons were awkward machines to take on tour and keep playing reliably. So I don't blame them :-) This song is in my Moody Blues top five.
@Ridgebark This was a television show done back then. It's not live in anyway. Go to some of the other vids and you will see. Instruments are not hooked up to go with it. To claim it's sort of kareoke is rediculious. This is one of the better ones of the bunch but this was an act. I saw them twice back then. Trust me, it's not live. By the way, they are very good live.
@Ridgebark One other thing. As a drummer, the drummer is barely tapping the drums. You would get less sound in a closet. This is meant for TV strictly and is not live and is meant for you to go and see them live. I have so many variables I can point out to you it's unbeliveable. I'm really surprised how many think it's live. I think Tuesday Afternoon is my absolute favorite personally.
