HI and thanks for the kind words and word of mouth. The song is by Joseph Lamb, a contemporary of Joplin and is called Ragtime Nightengale. It is on the Crumb soundtrack, where I first discovered it. I know what you mean about part two -- but a book twice as long would have cost twice as much (so I was told)
