@MustangFan424 Give him a break. The pistons need to be pushed back because as the pad wears down, the piston begins to push out against the worn brake pad in order to keep the pads firmly against the rotor. By pushing the pistons back, you allow the caliper to slide back over the new brake pads.

does expertvillage just come to your shop and film you doing the same thing 5 or 600 times then post it on youtube in 2 minute chunks?

if you want to learn then go to school, just dont be an idiot like some people and think that you're smart after school. school is nice but it just dont cut it. as most people find out when they get into a shop. but if you dont know what yor doing just get the work done by someone who does, dont go to the chains like merchants and those places. I used to work there. merchants guys in general dont care, they just want money, you dont matter to them.

and there is no such thing as a brake fluid valve as that other person mentioned. the valves in the system are metering valve and proportioning valve, atleast with rear drums. or theres about a thousand valves in the abs unit. lets not get into that. if I was doing it, I wouldnt take the cap off, it will let fluid out if it needs too. just let it run out and spray it off with water. if you leave the cap off it just makes it even easier for the fluid to be contaminated.

The hydraulic brake reservour needs to be open and brake fluid drained a little.

just before you push the pistons back in, dont you have to release the brake fluid valve so it can releases the pressure for the pistons to go back in???

@layziebtnh7 Is that mechanics slang? I mean the "pad slap" part? Just curious to learn that stuff. Also, hey, were do we want to put the silicone grease exactly and what parts of the brake do we want to keep it off of? Can you make a better tutorial video?

@jdubb408 I am interested to learn how rotors get warped by doing it the way he just showed. Are there some things we should know? Can you help us?

yea u can tell he has alot of experience.. nice way to warp those rotors

@momo261086 What do you mean what its about? You have to push the pistions back in order for the caliper to sit flush on the new brake pads. If you don't push them back you can't put the caliper back on because the pistion will hit the pad. How stupid are you?
