Anita wins this one by a hair. They were both excellent. Kevin's was a bit more exciting, but I think Anita was trying to stay truer to the song and I see where she was going with that. She was trying to show the women as stoic centerfold models contrasted with Cooley as the enthusiastic fan. Kevin's was the same ol' same ol' - but that works too!

Well, as I mentioned before I saw the episode with Madleen Kane singing You Can when it originally aired, then the Kevin version of Centerfold came on right after You Can, it blew me away so have to say Kevin Choreographic.

Just had to come by and see my 2 favorites again, Deb & Helene....whew...Smokin Hot man, Smokin Hot!

@lbCharmed1 actually you probably could have put lawrence welk on as the audioswap, as long as Deb and Helene were in the video I still would have enjoyed it. Hee hee!

@lbCharmed1 , That's alright. You know, in a strange way, I actually kinda liked the audio swap you chose. It's actually not bad considering.

im usually hard core anita mann, but this time i would have to go with kevin......cooley ruined anything he ever tried to dance in......kevins would have been better with tony.....

For this "battle", Kevin wins hands down, it was a very dynamic number!!
Like someone mentioned earlier, Anita;s version is merely walking around....
Overall i much prefer Anita style than Kevin, i thought it was much sexier and cutting edge!

Both dances were not too good, but the second was very lame, actually pedestrian, just carefully walking around the set fearfully.
I never thought the show presented what was best in jazz dance, too aerobics looking, too LA, not enough meat. That's why I loved Betsy Haug's choreography. Anything that's closer to Jack Cole. Granted, the songs were not too inspiring in those years.
I'm sure Anita Mann did much greater work than this one.
As I respond 10 months later, Kevin wins this one due to a "no show" from Anita's routine. OK Gayle does look Hot but not much dancing in this routine....boring!Kevin's routine in this one was dynamic, especially with Helene in the beginning..."Wow"!!!!.....That Girl was flat out sexy! Plus to agree with crowgirl420 how can you lose with Deb in your routine? I was bummed when Helene left but kept watching because of Deb, but once she left I also stopped watching.

@bkgtubster even though its' 10 months late, I appreciate the commentary. And I am sorry that you caught it after WMG muted the audio causing me to have to use that audioswap junk, my apologies for greedy corporate America.

I think Kevin has better stuff on this one even but must agree this is far from Anita's best work. How about a showdown with different songs with similar energy (ballads, rock, high energy dance). There are some great Anita routines- Walking on Sunshine with Pam comes to mind.

That's a possibility. It's just easier to exemplify the contrasting styles when the same song is used. But I don't know how long I can maintain this type of battle, so I just may have to look into your suggestion!

I hated Kevin's segment due to Alex's contribution to the song. I personally believe that the song should have had just the ladies. As in Anita's, it was great until Cooley "jumped" in and showed off. Gayle, Lezlie, and Beverly saved what Cooley tore down. Watching this segment several times, I have to BARELY give my vote to Kevin.

But I think the whole point of having the 1 guy in those numbers is this ~he IS the dude who's "Angel is a Centerfold"~
But I could be wrong.
