what is the cultural difference between masri and levantine? Im a first year arabic student and our textbook has MSA masri and levatine. we have to learn msa and we chose a dialect. There a few people with arabic-speaking friends who said masri is way better to learn for cultural reasons.

I grew up in Jordan and I'll clarify the distinction between the q and a sounds in "how much". The middle to upper class population says a rather than q, regardless of the gender of the speaker. It basically sounds more refined. The q sound is more traditional/Bedouin and you'll probably find this said more in the downtown markets and/or amongst the "blue collar" population.
