Pits are NOT good protectors. Making a pit do guard duty will only make him hate every human. There's a specific reason you don't see pits as guard dogs. They are too social to humans for that. Make him get mad at a stranger and he'll get mad at anyone he wants including you. Pits are for companionship and make great service dogs. But a guard dog trained pit will only lead to tragedy. Ask the mailman who lost a pound of flesh from his arm by my guard trained pit.
