I went to visit Gatlinburg on July 4th weekend in 2006 and we loved it, it was worth the 11 hour drive and I would love to go back and visit!!

@NameTheLlama I was born in Colorado Springs and moved away when I was 8. I miss the Rockies. I'll take the Smoky's anyday too! Gatlinburg and Sevier County is a great place to live!

@travislife42 I live in colorado springs. It's great. But I don't think I could take the heat in Tennessee.

@NameTheLlama I understand. I remember when I moved from CO the air in the south was very muggy. The heat really isn't that bad. The humidity is what makes it feel hotter than out west. The neat thing about the Smokies is they block the hot air from the coastal regions. In the late afternoon and evenings it cools to a comfortable balmy temp. The valley, which stretches in TN from the Smoky Mtns west to the Cumberland Plateau tends to stay a little warmer. You get used to it quick!

@lourdesr7 Depends. The heavier snows usually come in late december or early january. I've seen it snow as early as octobeer in some areas.
