I have an electrial socket that burned out and the wire broke off to short in order for me to connect it to a new socket. would i use soldering to connect that wire to a new wire?

@optimistONE This is very good to know information for anyone.

Tip:
Put your heat shrink on first, move it back past your alligator clips, make your connection, then slip it back and shrink it in place. If you solder your wire on before you put the shrink tube on the wire, you'll never get it over the ends.

This is essential stuff for RC hobby enthusiasts.

Good tip for the splayed strand join. So much easier with a good quality soldering iron...
Can you also do a video for how to solder while using a cheap and ineffective soldering iron - like the one I bought from my LHS which makes life 10x harder!

do you tihnk you can do a video on radios and difrent radios such as w3hat to look for in one and what not to look for and the good brands from the bad thanks
Very nice and very helpful. Are you using a 60watt iron? I been using a 40watt iron and find that when I need to unsolder something it just takes a little to long to heat the area up.

@airmayle1774 This is an 80W -- it's overkill. Check out my soldering tips video for some things that might help you get the most out of your iron.
