A video walkthrough of each boss in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. Note: THERE IS SOUND. Just wait till Soma goes into the Boss Room.
Boss #2: Balore
Equipment:
Arms: Claymore, Cloth Tunic, Scarf
Souls: Slime, Flying Armor, Golem
Level: 9
Boss Difficulty: 6.5/10
Strategy: Balore is a tough boss, but there's a simple strategy to defeating him. The one most important soul in close quarter battles: Slime. All you have to do is jump into Balore's face and cast Slime (I only had one slime, you should have four or five for better effect), and a single slime might do a total of up to 88 dmg. While the slime(s) are bouncing around, hit Balore with a swinging weapon (like the Mace or Claymore) in the eye when he is STILL. If his eyes start glowing, he does the eye beam attack. I got extremely lucky in this video, he went eye beam crazy, and all I had to do was Duck, Slime, Attack, repeat. This Duck, Slime, Attack cycle should be used after eye beams, but while he spends a second charging, let loose a slime to bug him while he does it. Balore is not as simple as he sounds, he does many moves with his hand, most of them crippling, and they should be avoided at all costs. Check the Moves Section below on how to evade his hand moves.
Balore Attacks:
Eye Beam: Does about as much damage as two of his fist attacks. Counter by ducking, which is the only thing you can do. If you feel brave, let loose a slime a second before the beam comes so it can hit him while he casts.
Horizontal Fist: Fist that goes all the way to the right of the screen. You only encounter this move if you jump and are in the back of the room, making safe Slime casting from far range impossible.
Up Swing Strike(2): Moves his fist up to strike you if close. There are two variations of this move, the slow charge and the quick hit. As far as I know, there is no real difference betweem their damages. The quick hit also happens when you stand on his fist. Counter: Move back, or jump away. I don't recommend backdashing.
Two Strikes: He mixes up moves sometimes, like sometimes he can do an up swing and a horizontal right, but most of the time he does two quick rights, and both can hurt you as much as the eye beam if they strike you consecutively. The two quick rights are actually one horizontal right, and a low horizontal right. Counter: Move or jump out of the way, but this attack is hard to predict, because you think its over after the horizontal right, and then he surprises you. I think the best way to avoid this is to stay close and jump as much as you can after the horizontal right.
Hammer fist: I call it hammer because it swings down like one. Its easy to avoid, and does no special damage. It targets one spot on the arena, usually the same spot, and is triggered when Soma stands in that spot too long for Balore's taste. Counter: Move closer or farther away to Balore. That's it.
Ceiling Smash: Happens when Soma stands on his fist, Balore attempts to smash Soma against the ceiling. Counter: Unless you absolutely have to, do not get on Balore's fist.
About Balore - Balore seems to be a simple hulk monster, and you can see him in the opening movie. You can also see a bigger, much tougher version in Aria of Sorrow, where he is the second to last boss, and one of the most annoying. You can also see this version of Balore in Portrait of Ruin, inside the Nest of Evil.
This guy was way more powerful in Aria of Sorrow

Sheesh, tell me about it. And how the hell did Celia transport him? Another thing, he's weaker here because he's one of the first bosses, obviously.

You dont need to really hit him in the eye, you could have gotten less time if u used your claymore when ducking under the beam + I think the Blunt Sword is a good weapon against him, because its fast ^^

Meh, I guess I just like Great Swords cause they stronger and lead to Claimh Solais (which is a cool weapon and is canon)
