http://www.sitelocationpartnership.com - Site Location Partnership Represents Cell-O-Core With Economic Development Project & Manufacturing Expansion to Texas.

Site Location Partnership, a Dallas-based consulting firm specializing in corporate site selection and location strategy, announced that Cell-O-Core, one of the nation's premier manufacturers of plastic products for the food and beverage industry, is expanding its operations to Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Cell-O-Core is investing over $1 million in a manufacturing facility that will initially add 20 new jobs to Sulphur Springs' economy. All employees, including management, will be hired from the local workforce. The expansion will enable Cell-O-Core to increase its manufacturing capacity and better serve its customers in the Southwestern United States.

Headquartered in Sharon Center, Ohio, Cell-O-Core manufactures hundreds of different types of drinking straws, beverage stirrers and swizzle sticks, and recently began marketing an eco-friendly compostable straw. In operation since 1945, the expansion to Sulphur Springs is the company's first outside Ohio.

"Cell-O-Core is an established organization that will contribute to our economy. We are thrilled to welcome them to our business community," said Roger Feagley, executive director of the Sulphur Springs-Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation. "Their customer base has grown in the Southwest and shipping costs are eating them up. It became obvious they needed to move their manufacturing to a new area."

Site Location Partnership assisted Cell-O-Core in the site selection process and worked closely with economic development officials throughout an extensive site search to help facilitate the expansion project. Scrutinizing market access, transportation links and operating costs, among other factors, dozens of sites across the Southern U.S. were evaluated before narrowing the search to five communities in Texas and Louisiana. After visits to the prospective locations, the Texas communities of Abilene, Schertz and Sulphur Springs made the short list.

The Sulphur Springs-Hopkins County EDC offered to construct a building to meet the needs of Cell-O-Core, something the company found appealing. "We have an opportunity to fit a building for our business rather than fitting our business around a building," said Thomas Allen, executive vice president of Cell-O-Core. "That was very attractive to us."

Sulphur Springs' pro-active approach and inviting, hometown feel didn't go unnoticed. After meeting with local business representatives and community leaders during site visits, representatives from Cell-O-Core were impressed with what the city had to offer. "The people were incredibly friendly," Allen said. "We loved the community."

While Abilene and Schertz were both very promising locations for the expansion, the decision came down to Sulphur Springs' proposed build-to-suit option and the site's proximity to one of Cell-O-Core's major customers, according to Site Location Partnership's CEO Justin Thompson. "The new facility will allow Cell-O-Core to improve its supply chain efficiency and expand production to meet the needs of current and future customers," Thompson said. "The Sulphur Springs EDC should be commended for their concerted effort and commitment in recruiting this project to their community."
