Singapore in 1978 in the Hollywood movie Saint Jack. The building with the POSB sign was the general post office. It is now The Fullerton hotel. There is an underground tunnel which led to the docks where boats would take their mail to the steamers further off shore. The waters are damed and now called Marina Bay.

  • The opening scenes from this great movie. When I first went to Singapore in 1995, for memory this area looked very similar to this. Certainly the Fullerton Building - now the Fullerton Hotel - was still used as a Post office then, and I think possibly the IRAS used it too. But all those junk boats were moved from there probably in the early 80's. I think the area changed significantly in the late 90's or early 2000's with the Esplanade development.
