This video shows the Playstation 2 Buzz controllers used as a USB input device to a PC. This could be used for small corporate events or seminars, or for low budget gameshow or entertainment formats.

These libraries are now incorporated into a product for my employer.

We have a configurable product called 'CatBuzz', which uses up to 3 sets of these controllers, wired or wireless. The user can configure the buzzers into teams if required. Lockouts can be handled on an individual or group basis, allowing most types of panel games to be played with very little configuration or experience of the system.

Simple information screens are also included to show team and individual scores, and a timing engine is incorporated to show the fastest responses etc. The coloured buttons on the front of the controller can be used to play games which require either single or multiple ordered responses too - think "Fastest Finger First" on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"

  • Where is this software?

Is it yet available to download?

    Thanks

  • Hi, as I responded to a previous comment -

"I might consider releasing the libraries at some point, but currently I've got commercial uses for it, so it wouldn't make sense for me to release for free something that I can sell!

If you're still interesting in licensing the libraries, please send me an email. "

  • Do you have your software online somewhere to download?

  • what coding language is the system using?

  • I have a question. can I use this like a joystick for a game? and if yes how much do you want for this?

    Thanks

  • i want to use the buzz controllers for a britians got talent buzzer any 1 got any ideas ??

  • @chocobiebabeloeba send a email to qoobit, maybe you can buy the program.

  • Can someone give me clue or a program how to do this?

  • @ncstebb Hey, I actually made my own java bridge to read the input from these controllers! I'll upload them when i get home, along with some example files. The only drawback to this solution is that i haven't found a way to embed this on a website yet. Your welcome to the code, though.

  • @PitchBlackCat I'd love to get hold of code to use buzz controllers with flash. I've created a flash quiz show game and I can use it with a third party program to map the buzzer buttons to the keyboard. Doing it directly in Flash would be much better. Any chance I could get hold of it?

  • @ChrisKewl this is very easy to do. The controllers are recognized automatically with about 20 buttons (5 for each controller) just take alook in your control panel. And you write to the controller using createfile() writefile() apis to turn on and off the lights. lots of resources out there.

  • @GraDWhitehead If anyone is still intereseted in this kind of stuff, i build a Java project that reads the input of the Buzz controllers and a Actionscript 3 interface, that enables me to build Flash games that work with the buzz controllers :)

  • @qoobit You still weighing the pros and cons since last year? I would love to use this on a project I am doing for school.
