now imagine how big a real galaxy is. our milky way has about 300 to 400 billion stars (400 000 000 000). remember: our sun is just a common star somewhere near the edge of a galaxies spiral arm. if only 1 of a million of these stars has a planetary system there are probably millions and millions of other civilications out there. (also remember there are 100 of billions of other galaxies and each has 100 of billions of stars.. thats awesome!)

I thought about the same thing. I don't know why people are still asking "are there any others out there", "are we the only ones". There has to be 100s of millions of other societies out there. We just don't have the fuel energy to explore them for ourselves. Just satellites and images of places we need to be.

Yeah It's much better explained by setting the challenge of terraforming and claiming every planet. Iv'e done it once and complated it yesterday (I got a prize from EA)

the estimated number of particles (electrons, neutrons and protons) in our Universe is about 10^80 (I guess in the observable universe) .. just and interesting fact :)
