And since pi = 3.14, 4000 pi cubic feet can also be written as 4000 times 3.14, or 12,560 cubic feet. Students also learn that the formula for the volume of a sphere is 4/3 times pi times radius cubed, and the formula for the volume of a cone is 1/3 times pi times radius squared times height.

Notice that the figure here is a CYLINDER, to find the volume of a CYLINDER, start with the volume used for a CYLINDER.
