  • Turk mu lan bu? Turk se iyi. Rumsa agzina siciim!

    Is he Turkish or Pontus??

  • Pontian, from karadeniz region, in greece (Yunan)

  • Greeks and Pontians are actually the same. Or not? In Greece live around the 300.000 Pontians.

What i dont understand, of the Greek language and the Pontian language are the same or not. And can both people understand each other?

And have the Karadeniz ''Laz'' people the same language as the Pontians??

Already thanks for your answer :D

  • Pontians are Greeks who lived in the Karadeniz region for over 2000 years. Unlike the mainland Greeks, the Pontian Greeks kept more of the Ancient traditions & language, so in effect they are more Greeks then the "Greeks". The language, which is a "dialect" is known as Rum or Rumce in karadeniz, I don't think the Laz understand it but some Muslim or Turkish Pontians speak it clearly. On my visit I could not speak Turkish, and they only knew little english, so we spoke Pontian together!!!!

  • Thank you for this important information.

Pontians look like the Turkish people, thats reason why i ask you. Maybe the Pontians are ethnic Turkish groups.

Because i have Relatives who are Laz, and their language look likes the yours. MAYBE there is a commom between, Turk-Laz-Pontian. Efkaristo poli :D

  • Well we lived, eat, danced, sung together for so many year, you will surly have a mix, especially the Love for the Kemence and Horon....

    Your welcome!

  • @sutveren29 they look the same because geneticaly most turkish people are greeks :P but the cultural similarities are indeed because of the blending that happened on the cultural level.

  • He's a Legend

  • @MrTailor61 bizte orta geliors pontos, selam aso alemania

  • @sutveren29 no laz is South Caucasian language relative to svan megrel and other Georgians this culture is basically Colchian pontians are argonauts who came there later and there is mix definitely
