This delightful and unusual live steam locomotive has two Roundhouse chassis with a custom boiler to make a beautiful Garrett engine, remaniscent of the narrow gauge Garretts of East and South Africa . It is gas powered and radio controlled and is seen here making the rounds on the SVRR on a humid September afternoon, hence the nice steam effects. Working headlights and a whistle complete the model.

  • Yes, we'd had a heavy rain a couple of days ago and some ballast got on the rail. The engine soon knocked it off though.

  • Thats a very interesting engine! Is is scratch built? Its very close to a engine I'd like to scratch build except for the boxes in the front and back. The main part has exactly the look I like.

  • I too have a Locobox Afrikarn which runs very well but the poy trucks come off the track easily as I notice happens in your video too.

Have you found any answer to this problem?

  • A bit rough in spots along the lines.

  • I have just made a garratt, not as nice as the locobox one though,I used two roundhouse millie chassis,it has quite a lot of power ,
