@TheJoeyD27 I grew up in South Central (Watts), Ca and you have got to be aware that the drug dealers don't control just by sheer muscle power.

I hope that things settle down for Oakland but it would be hard to get residents to tell on the dealers. Hard for the honest cops and polititians to afford the manpower to fight it. And the dealers will only be able to run things to a certain point.

I am sure that at least one of the other inmates will be able to get at this guy if they want to..let's face it, prison guards arent paid a lot of money considering their line of work. I'll be that sooner or later one can be bought to turn their head every once in awhile.

@prettiblackbuttafly I agree also, but how do you get everyone on the same page? Power and money corrupts. But sociolism doesn't work either. There just isn't a way to make everyone consider and treat one another as equals.

I think that this cop "jumped the gun". There were just too many other cops surrounding the guy.

The guy on the ground wasn't the only victim that day. This had to go over badly for the witnesses.

@codowner00 You're right. We will never know his true motives. Maybe they had too many cops there on the scene to begin with, and he just over reacted.

White or black he was wrong. The other cops had the guy down...this couldn't have been much help in how the spectators are going to judge other cops who wouldn't do this.

The sad thing is that his "department" will  have to turn their back on him because it will further incense the public if they don't.

This guy is going to spend a miserable 8 years in prison.

@prettiblackbuttafly Except that this was NOT a murder. It is a proven fact that Mehserle intended to tase, which makes this an accidental shooting, criminally negligent homicide, NOT murder. No police? That is a laugh. Sure there are bad cops, but that is like saying because there are some bad judges we should have no legal system. It is called living in society, and if more people realized their civic duties, things like this would not happen nearly as often.
