During the 1950s and 1960s, downtown Fort Worth businesses competed by erecting large, bright, and sometimes gaudy, neon signs. The streets were as bright in the neon wash as any in Las Vegas. Even the courthouse dome added to the glitzy glare with its own outline of neon tubes and was topped with a neon US flag. Those were the "good ol' days" in cowtown.
