I love ALL big cats, makes no sense why people insist on being on 'team tiger' or 'team lion'...I am on 'team all cats'.

awww baby tiger!!!!

The Bengal!!!

@junlueZ you are right mate.
I love lions slightly more than I love tigers, but reality is, tigers are bigger than lions which makes them more powerful, and a likely winner, hopefully we never have to see their fight, because that would result in a serious injury to both of these beautiful animals, which would be awful.

It seems like every other person is a big cat expert, loolz. Presenting facts that are "proven", but no where to be found! bigger loolz, pound for pound lions are as strong as tigers, and in the discovery channel animal face-off (not looking at the actual results, but only the facts), leopards are the strongest followed by jaguars.
Accept the reality, tigers on average (225kg) are much larger than any lion (avg 190).

@junlueZ You're a moron!
More recent observations have confirmed that the Siberian tiger may not be larger than the Bengal, due to lousy measuring techniques in the past. They also have thicker furs which makes them look bigger.
I'm also sure some lions could beat some tigers. It's not black & white, you moron. One could also say that male lions fight more often than a tiger. Lions must take over prides from other males, defend the pride, survive as nomads etc, so they're more of fighters.

great upload baBoo
And modern weights are not inconsistent with the reliable data from the past. The only difference is today tigers have to be baited to capture sites before being weighed resulting in inflated weights.
However even modern weights obtained from tigers which were likely not baited are around 200kgs. Dr. Tej Kumar Shrestha in his book the Mammals of Nepal states that the average weight of male tigers from Chitwan NP is 199.4kg.

Did Dr. Tej Kumar Shrestha weigh any tigers ? No. Then why should we take some unknown authors statement as true ? Nepal tigers average 235 Kg, according to Dr.Sunquist the leading tiger expert.
The "baited " is mere excuse from lion fanatics to underrate tiger weights.

Sunquist told me none of the tigers he captured were stomach filled. Even if we generously reduce 10 kg for baited, still it is 225 kg average. And, that includes young 4 year old male tigers. Average of fully grown male tigers is even higher. 250 kg is nothing to established resident prime male tigers.

Obviously modern scientific records are inconsistent with highly unreliable big game hunter records.
Nepal tigers = 235 Kg average (7 males), Another male captured in 1984 weighed more than 270 kg, including 1984 male the average = 239 kg
Central indian tigers = 241.6 kg average (3 males, likely adjusted for stomach content)
South indian tigers = 228 kg (7 males)
Big game hunters likely included subadults, young males. That gave lower average and It is unscientific.

You are obviously not interested in obtaining any real info and simply want to bolster the few high weights recorded for tigers that suit your needs.
One more time Dunbar Brander was a naturalist not a hunter whose work can be found in scientific journals such as the the Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society.

When did tiger killers and trophy hunters, poachers become naturalists ?
It is you who is spouting nonsense with old unreliable trophy records. You are ill-informed about modern scientific tiger weights.
