  • Nice Video angles. Where did you get the front spray skirts and what was the cost?

  • I had them made up myself by a sailmaker in Adelaide for $200(Aus).

Extras...bungees, shackles and fixtures to kayak... another $25.

The main consideration was to insure against any looseness, as the weight of water on the leeward side when submerged loosens the skirt on that side and accordingly reduces efficiency.

  • I know you had these skirts made by sailmaker in Adelaide, is there any chance of you letting us know the name please. We have just bought one of these great boats. We are on Sunshine Coast, Qld, and perhaps we could get some sent up to us? Or, maybe if we had the specs we could get a local sailmaker to whip us up a set. Thanks... sure looks like we are in for some fun on our Islander!

  • Good Design. Do the amas still fold back?

  • Good design. Can the amas still fold back?

  • Where Can I get one in Tortola o Sant Martin.?

  • very well done thanks for the show.

  • Wow! I"m impressed....I want some! Nice video as well....sail on!

  • @predictablyrandomist I didn't know about weather helm thanks, I'll remember that, diod you know Hobie had a problem with the material/manufacture of the AI rudder pin, this has now been rectified and an new pin different colour is now on the market

  • With the Adventure Island in strong wind conditions, you can break rudder pins with too much sail up.

It is a thing called weather helm that puts a disproportional amount of pressure on the back end of the craft and often when trying to steer into the wind, you can really feel the rudder fighting you through the tiller lever.

With some of the sail furled the pressure is redistributed and the pressure is off.

  • hi mate, great vid , quick question, why so much furled sail?

  • @drewboy3567

I live in the states and I'm trying to find a place that could make these skirts for me. Would you give me the name of the salemaker you used and maybe I can get something done.

    Thanks,
