QUEZON CITY, Philippines--Call centers tend to be perceived as the 21st century equivalent of industrial factories, physically at least, because of agents that can number by the hundreds answering calls at any given time. Jim Griffin, country manager of APAC Customer Services, explains why the company is making use of a "honeycomb" layout and specially-built chairs to provide a more pleasant working environment and help improve the performance of its call center agents. Video taken by INQUIRER.net reporter Lawrence Casiraya at the company's facility at the Araneta Center in Cubao on Jan. 15, 2008.

  • yeah! everytime I start my shift, I have to worry if my station has already been taken by someone else.. APAC lacks work stations!!

  • 1 thing i love about APAC is their chairs.. fucking love it man! it's like, so comfortable.. it also helps clearing the pressure or stress out of your head..

  • Poor video I can't even see the damn layout.

  • Hello, I was also from BCC wave3a . That account was really nice i must say. but the company (APAC) is useless! They never give bonuses and increase to agents. So wether you are working there for 5 years you still earn 12,000 a month!

  • i agree! i was a former bcc agent in cubao! no parking space for the hardworking agents and the food in the pantry is the crappiest food ive ever tasted!

  • APAC pays thier agents terribly!

  • Ha Ha - the Met Police in London now have this - it doesn't work, and the chairs are not designed to be sat on by the same person for 12hrs a day. There's progress for you!

  • It looks like they're using Windows Vista on their computers. The honeycomb layout is not a new thing anymore.. it's just taking much of the office space!! they'll be doing some desk sharing there soon enough once they have hired more than what the operation floor can take and the management implements greater than 100% of desk utilization.. stupid strategy.. looks good but lacks functionality...

  • apac araneta center!

  • Nice spend money on the design, but pay crap wages to the workers.. Great one Jim!!
