In terms of technique it's just as hard (although it really depends on the gymnast; some have difficulty with the double pike, others don't). In terms of judging, though, it warrants more deductions because 90% of the gymnasts will do it with their legs crossed, plus it way harder to stick a 2.5 twist (and front tumbling in general) than a double pike. It's like having a 0.2 deduction before even starting!
I'm sorry, but the double piked is NOT easier than a 2.5 twist. The 2.5 twist is probably the easiest D pass you could do, followed by front double twist, and double piked.
I remind you that last year the greatest tumblers in the world, Alicia Sacramone and Shawn Johnson, used to dismount with a double pike, which is a D element, just like the 2.5 twist, only easier.

So the best tumbler in the world has to end her FX with an idiot 2-1/2. Great job on the Code, guys. Thanks for ruining the sport.
Fabulous work by Cheng! Hope she won't get screwed the second Olympics in a row.
