ABMC 2011 Professor Michael Hudson Keynote Address Part Four

ABMC 2011 saw one of the world's greatest economists in his finest form, as Professor Michael Hudson delivered a wide-ranging and powerful keynote that looked at the current financial crisis and the lessons that could be drawn from the unfolding events. Conference chair Dr Jeffrey Sommers of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee gave some historical perspective to recent events as he took us back to reflect on the world economy from the past 5, 50 and 500 years, and French monetary historian Georges Depeyrot of the CNRS/ENS looked at the creation and implementation of the modern Japanese yen.

Jerry Platt, professor emeritus at the San Francisco State University brought things firmly into the present, chairing a "Perspectives and reflections on the state of the global economy" panel with Michael Hudson and Jeff Sommers. William Saito, CEO of InTecur and venture capitalist looked into the future to ponder if the March 11 earthquake would galvanize a new generation of Japanese entrepreneurs, asking if the next Sony might be from Tohoku.

ABMC saw more than 40 presentations in a variety of disciplines related to economics, business and management, and we look forward to 2012 with confidence.
