read this 1st !!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am only riding my 2yr 6 month old filly because she is 14.3hh and she has a problem with her back legs which lock every time she stands still in the padcok which is just a youngster think and she should grow out of it
iv bin told by a lot of farriers and 2 vets that i have to get her out on the roads doing about 20 mins every day of hill work and the odd trot to build up her legs to stop the jouints poping in and out and if i dont build her up by the time she is 4 then she will have to have a massive op which will make her have arthrities by the time she is 14 in steed of about 22 if she didnt have to have the op ppl would say why dont i wait till shes 3 to build her up but it would be to much to ask her to work that hard in only a year to get her built up sp i have to start young and no matter what any of you ppl say the vet nose best
this is me on my welsh cob filly i no i should have a hat on but hay, i didnt fall of this time lol:) plz comment

  • My friends horse does that all the time, its either digging or your pulling on his mouthz

  • @welshypara Its a little hard to pull on HER mouth in a head coller dont you think!!! Its funny how shes doing it as i ask.

  • That´s no spanish walk....

  • @Bubi228

Thats why it says WELSH COB TRYING TO DO SPANISH WALK BAREBACK IN HEAD COLLER!!!!

Does it say DOING anywhere here NO!!

  • I know what it is when she locks her legs.. Doe shee lock then drag ? If so its lock and stiflee. my pony is like yours and he had it.. we had his ligiment cut for 400 $ But they will delvelop athritis in the next 15 yrs.. its the best thing we did to him :)

  • @little10ponieghost1

No its locking patellar or upward fixaction of the patellar. Yes she can have her ligerments cut but you have to look at what that will do to the horse. She will not be able to sleep standing up. She will get arthrites at a young age and being a bigger breed she will already get it. I could put her in foal to strech her back end and that should stop it from locking. She is not 5 and a half and she only gets stiff when its cold or she puts on to much weight.

  • hey my friend had a 2 and a half yr old which she little break to rode just cus he was so full of himself he needed it i feel that if the horse is happy to do 20 to 30 minutes a day it is not going to hurt them x x x x

  • I love the places you are able to ride at! I'm so jealous! And you're horses are cute too!

  • shes toooo gorgeous

  • She's absoloutley gorgeous :D

    good luck with her :)

she should grow out of it,

a pony that is now on loan to me had the same thing, he's now 19 and trots along with his tail in the air all proud of himself, without a bit of stiffness in him :)
