This is a clip from Beyond Tomorrow documenting Linkoping University's Helicopter UAV projects. The large robot is an experimental test-bed for aerial surveillance and intelligence gathering. It has internal 3D maps, sensors and navigation systems that allow it to detect its position and surroundings while autonomously surveying an area. The robot can be operated from a PDA phone. They are also working on a smaller indoor helicopter micro UAVs that scale down to the size of butterflies.

  • I was just waiting for this clown to get the tip of his finger whizzed off the way he was waving his hand around that blade!

AR Drones have this completely beat. A fraction of the size, a fraction of the cost, a fraction of the noise. GPS parkable even in stiff wind. Color and night video with sound. Autonomous mode just like this one, controled with an iPad.

  • Thumbs up for Debian.

  • no Remote control?!!!!!!! I tell you as a RC aviator: THAT IS THE MOST STUBID thing ever.

  • lol yea really a bad idea. It can slice off her lips . indoor version
