... The collective has no rights at all, nor should any "law" outrank one's own conscience. (For the complete explanation, read "The Most Dangerous Superstition.") A lot of people are scared of the idea, "Anyone does whatever he wants," but it's simply a TRUISM: everyone already does what he wants, keeping in mind consequences others might impose upon him. The real thing to fear is people IGNORING their own consciences in favor of obedience to an imagined "authority." THAT gets really ugly fast.

I suspect it's both. I've lost count of how many people have come right out and told me, "I never thought about this stuff at all, but then I (read TMDS, read anarchist articles, saw voluntaryist videos, etc.), and now it all makes sense!" It's still a tiny minority, but a LOT of people--thousands upon thousands--are suddenly thinking about things they've never thought about before.

Sorry, "TMDS" is short for my book, "The Most Dangerous Superstition."
