Varsity 845 -- Section 9 Girls' Golf Tournament

Valley Central's Tori DeGroodt shot a 7-over par 80 on Tuesday in the final round of the Section 9 girls' golf championships to win the tournament by three strokes over Margaret Suchan of James I. O'Neill. DeGroodt, a sophomore, and Suchan were tied heading into the 17th hole, but DeGroodt birdied the par-4 17th and Suchan had a double bogey. Both parred No. 18. DeGroodt had a two-round total of 13-over 157. The first round was played May 18 at Apple Greens GC in Highland. Suchan shot 85 on Tuesday and finished at 160 for the tournament. First-round leader and four-time Section 9 champ Ashley Zambito of Newburgh Free Academy shot a 91 and finished in third at 165.
