In the camera section alone, so not the top pocket, could it hold:
Nikon D3100 (similar size to 500d)
18-105 lens (quite chunky but not too long)
70-300 lens (bigger than the Canon telephoto you have)
50mm (pretty standard size)
Small flash gun - I mean really small.
