what do you feel is annoying? I laugh when I say this (certainly not at you) but this whole piece and performance has a hilarity/annoyance/flamboyance to it that kind of jabs at one all the time, right to the end. At least for me

Actually, my negative comments keep getting deleted. Some of us don't appreciate annoying pianists.

I love how there's only one negative comment for this vid. That's probably why violinists and their groups, like vengerov and those playing with him, get paid a lot and attract lots of fans. They are exciting, entertaining, and I'm sure they play plenty of other awesome stuff too. There is always a place for introspection, solemnity, and "respect" in performance and music. But with out a little of this kind of thing(above) here and there things can sometimes get boring

I am fan of Maksim Vengerov!!!!

WOW.
I often agree with you - Vag is generally not the greatest of accompanists. However, I feel that this is the perfect piece for him - bold, loud, adventurous. He does a remarkable job and looks like he is truly enjoying the music. Overall, for me at least, he not only detracts nothing from the performance but adds significantly to its humour and character. Overall a top notch performance from all round and the most compelling Sabre Dance for a long while.

It's a very good performance. And, whilst I admit I prefer Vengerov's performances with Barenboim, Papain is very good in this. Vengerov's interpretation and styling is compelling and true to the gypsy nature of both piece and composer. The stamping adds a lovely element of humour.
