Commodore PET 2001 - playing PAC MAN & SPACE INVADERS

The Commodore PET 2001 was released in 1977 - same year as the TRS-80 Model 1 and the Apple II. This video shows a nice working example playing 2 games.

I have the original tape for the invaders game, it's called Space Intruders. This game is mostly written in assembly code. Actually it has two lines of BASIC code: one with a special character which clears the screen when you try to LIST it, and the other which performs a system call to the code itself. Pretty neat graphics for that computer. The Pacman game however is quite poor, and definitely looks like slow basic code. An assembly version would have run much faster. But hey, this was 1980 !

The space invaders game lookked good but that pac man game looked pretty bad... Maybe even wors than the atari 2600 version

nod these computers looked positively menacing in a row in a classroom, one of the most retro looking but least attractive computers ever made in my opinion, you felt you were on moonbase alpha set or space 1999, just they were so quickly succeeded that they just gathered dust.
