Im havin a "If I Was a Carpenter" nite when i post all the versions of this Fantastic Song on my Facebook Wall,,,, So far the best is The Small Faces version of it,,, but they are all good,, In fact this one is also fantastic...
he may have been off his face but then,so were most of the audience ,I imagine for them ,being on the "same page"it was probably one of the most touching experiences of their lives ,it is for me and I'm sitting here straight.:-)
Tim, even though he's on the nod displays such natural talent and restraint, he rides the high and it becomes a part of the performance. I've seen a backstage interview from earlier in the day and the guy was in very bad shape, could barely stand up...he obviously got himself together enough to deliver this fantastic performance. Rest Tim, troubled man...
@EduardHeinrichAlfons i agree completely. Mr. Hardin's performance here is pure and total. Whether he created the new lines and verse spontaneously or had prepared them previously matters little. The point i think that you see, and with which i fully agree, is that Mr. Hardin, may he rest in peace, was an artist of the first order and we are watching him totally immersed in delivering his art to his audience. And he created and performed some of the best musical art from that era.
God bless him...what a genious ! Look what the drugs are doin to him.

Heartbreaking, real, powerful, sad, beautiful, tragic, genius.
His eyes... the poetic, romantic silence in his voice...
This performance gets me every time.
Tim Buckley and Tim Hardin forever.
