wow plastic gears, was hoping for more outta this for $1000. looking to jump back into a scope with this setup after ten years without one. I don't know about this now. brings back remembers of my etx 125 completely taken apart on my table as I readjusted everything in it to run and track better then the factroy setup. lx200 wasn't bad but I still made some adjustments on that. not sure if I want to pay this much money and then have to rebuild the thing. are metal replace gears available?

cannot imagine these little plastic gears working properly for long @ -20C here in Canada

This is the standard problem with Meade. I have a 7" LX200GPS Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope and I had some problems, but thank goodness the LX200 has medal gears, because these plastic ones are so fragile, like that second that is either slightly too loose or it was just machined wrong. These scopes with plastic gears are very fragile. I was planning on getting an LX80, but it seems a lot of people are having problems and I don't know if its worth the risk. There is too much play in Meade QC.
