1979... forgive me if this sounds strange I was born in 77. But didn't this sound a bit like he had just stepped off a star ship at the time?
I can hear so much that was fairly common in the pallet of sounds used by so many guitarists later, but I can't think of much near '79 or before that comes close.
Then again haven't been a guitar nerd in a long time. :)
