This is THE sketch that EVERYBODY was talking about for many years to follow. "The Andy Kaufman Incident". For those of you too young to know about this, here's a link to the Wikipedia page for 'Fridays'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fridays_...
(05.05.13) - On February 27th, 1981, Fridays' co-producer John Moffitt appeared on the show to offer his explanation as to what had transpired the week before with Andy Kaufman's bizarre behavior. Mr. Moffitt then brought Andy Kaufman out on the stage, so Andy could set the record straight. I have finally discovered my lost video tape of that show, and have just now uploaded it to YouTube! I hope you ALL enjoy this VERY historic video! I look forward to reading all your comments! ~ Chris ~

That was a god-awful show, Kaufman deserved to cause all that chaos. Plus, watch Michael Richards' face, you can sense he and Andy were secretly in on the bit.

Yes, look up the term "cringe comedy". Even "Friendly World" had that as its premise. He knew that people want to cringe as much as laugh or be horrified. He filled the void. Imagine the balls he had, though.

With 30-plus years of distance -- and vivid memories of this "incident" as well as the notorious staged fight with Jerry Lawler on Letterman -- Kaufman's self-conscious confrontationalism seems more cringe-worthy than funny. Then again, his intention all along seemed to be to cause discomfort.
