Filmed in July 2006 at the oil rigs Elly, Eureka and Ellen off the coast of Huntington Beach California. This was the first (and only) time I hit 130 feet deep. I wanted to film the white anemone that occur at these depths. It was a really good day of diving. Enjoy!

  • your supposed to stay 200 yards away from the platform at all times, they should have arrested you!

  • Not if you have permission, the dive shops and boats in the area had permission for diving at the rigs. They warned us we were not allowed to "touch" the rig, but we could swim and dive right next to it.

  • diving the oil rigs is considered an advanced dive because there is no bottom (more than 130 feet down) as far as recreational diving goes. However, the dive is amazing and it shows us that oil rigs do create a reef environment if well maintained.

  • I live in Huntington Beach and am just getting my certification. Is it possible for anyone to dive this rig or do you need to know someone?

  • woah, this video is amazing. never knew you had such fertile reef systems as such down in california. I don't know how this video has not gained more attention!
