There are plenty of good reasons to continue. Surrender isn't an option; Terrorists can't be allowed to win; Stability in region is a strategic must; Genocide if the US leaves; Emboldens the Enemy when US quites a war; Surrender means the war comes home to neighborhood streets; Iran will take over the region...shall I go on?
The number of Americans who still support the war in Iraq gets smaller with each passing week. People don't know what it's about or why Bush can't simply order the troops to come home. There's got to be a stronger reason to keep doing this than that it's unpatriotic not to. If you used that as a rationale for continuing bad policies we'd never get anywhere.
Since nobody can come up with a positive reason to continue, withdrawal is really the only alternative.
I don't dismiss what you may have seen, but I do question a small group of National guard who were asking for anti Iraq war bumper stickers. It doesn't play right, if you catch my drift. Nor is it in tune with the very large majority of soildiers blogs comming from Iraq and Afganistan. Not to mention the independent journalists that are reporting from both. Your response sounds a little too politically one sided. Tell me more about what you saw and heard.
I just got back from my county fair, and i shit you not a group of 4 Kentucky National Guard troops were asking for Anti-Iraq war bumper stickers one was in Iraq and was saying how's he's converted a bunch of troops over there to the Democratic side because the Republicans are so damn clueless about whats really going on in Iraq. Our Combat troops are against this war in a solid Majority. Deal with it. They know the facts on the ground.
