Grinnell Kansas Tornado - May 22, 2008

Beautiful Kansas tornado forms right in front of us just south of Grinnell, Kansas on the first of two incredible chase days. We follow it on the ground for about 15 minutes until it vanishes.

Awesome!! Great catch! I missed out on these amazing late May days in 2008. But we redeemed ourselves a bit in 09'. Congrats on an excellent catch once again.

Dust devil don't descend from thunderstorms. The for on clear days from convection currents.

8:0t shows an obvious funnel that reaches all the way up into the thunderstorm. That does not happen with dust devil.

Yes, tornadoes can be deadly, but they can also be amazing. Plus, with today's technology in weather, we can warn people ahead of time. Think about the settlers way back..

@Nynnemp use thunder and lighning near it, once you see lightning, count how many seconds go by before thunder, 1 second = 1 mile :)
