i actually like the mistakes-- the slight dissonance adds something to the impetuosity, like he is not holding anything back!

Terrible. May I say that this is the ONLY performance by Gilels I have ever disliked. Maybe I like Schubert even more than I like Gilels, but this shows zero respect for the little man's work, and is such a massive contrast to Gilels' renowned respect for composers in his later interpretations that I wonder if this is really Gilels?

I have a funny story, I played this in a recital once... was so bored that I started looking around and completely lost my place. (this is 30 years ago) Lately I wondered, was that impromptu really as boring as I remember? Wow, this rendition knocks my socks off! it "makes sense" when played at breakneck speed.

This song is supposed to be played fast, but not THIS fast. No one cares about your "skill" when you're messing up every other key. Sorry.

I have zero doubt that Gilels would like to snatch this recording from the netherworld to save embarrassment.

Schubert deserves much, much better. Just because you have a recording of a piece, doesn't mean it should be displayed.
