There is wisdom in the snow!
After Snowmagedon....someone had made a snowman in the shape of a Buddha I thought it was a good opportunity to be reminded of some of Buddha's wisdom. Jorge's group Urubamba, Los Incas recorded with Paul Simon, he wrote this for his son and it's played on a Charango...and ex Armadillo.
From a Facebook friend!
"Actually, the "chubby" Buddah is Pu-tai (Jap., Hotei). Pu-tai was an actual Chinese Buddhist monk who lived around the 10th century (whose real name was Ch'i-tz'u).
Many wonderful stories are associated with him. He is truly an enigmatic character. He personifies the spirit of Zen insofar as he is carefree, yet wise and fully enlightened. At the time of his death (parinirvana) he revealed that he was Maitreya Buddha. He is often called the 'Laughing Buddha'.
The beautiful quotations are from the sayings of Shakyamuni Buddah of India, the original founder of Buddhism. He is depicted as slender and handsome."
Thank you for this thoughtful piece. By embracing wisdom from ancient philosophy you've exposed your viewers to a hidden facet of your talent. I hope that you continue to explore unique, provocative, and inspiring subjects to which you will apply your own special touch. While your great work in "shockumentaries" brings fame and (hopefully) fortune, your efforts in artistic videos like this one will make you smile even when no one is watching.
