A great version of the record made famous by the Casa Loma Orchestra.Lew Stone's Band,by no means large, play in a tight, swinging manner which belies their size.Stanley Black provides the neat arrangement.Lew Stone joined the Savoy Havana Band that toured South Africa, then moved to be chief arranger for Ambrose, after which he became pianist/arranger for Roy Fox and eventually became leader of this band.Of all the British band leaders,Stone probably had the most individual talent. His relaxed leadership style made him popular with his musicians. In spite of no Al Bowlly, this wonderful bit of music shows off Stone's band at their very finest and their hottest.

  • Yes it is the same arrangement. However the rhythm section on Casa Loma is all over the place. The solos also are a bit loose at times.Lew Stones is tight, compact and the solos keep within the tempo of the rhythm section. At least to my ears, but thanks for your comments, always good to hear from people

  • This is pretty much a straight imitation, with the soloists attempting, for the most part, to play the same solos as are on the Casa Loma version.
