How to Make Xylophone Keys - The Formula

There is one way to find the nodes without using any numbers what-so-ever. Sprinkle a fine powder (salt, sawdust, etc.) onto the key and strike it repeatedly. The powder will congregate along the lines of the nodes. It isn't precise, because the powder will never make a super thin line. But, you can come very close and it's very handy for odd lengths, like 12 and 11/16th inches. (;

Yay! :) I love your videos, they help me so much :)

@lleevveell66 - and for flat as well, assuming all dimensions were uniform.

@rockfreakinsolid Yeah, and thinking twice about that, it'll only work on flat keys. Yours would definitely be the easiest method for pipes and other round stuff.

@lleevveell66 - Yeah, that's why it's best sometimes to use metric... it's much easier to divide centimeters in tenths and so on ^_~
And there's no powder mess hehe... but your point on that is excellent because, school teachers and home-schoolers can use that as an experiment to teach about sound vibrations and such - awesome input, lleevveell66!! ^_^
OH NO! Where are the other videos? And your website as well!
