  • few questions . . . I bought all of the products that you used in the video; however, I am not sure on exact dilution.

how much (apprx.) did you use of the shampoo; how much of the ultra silk; how much of the conditioner? I am going to do a trial and error today with my dog and see if I can estimate the amount to use.

Also, it appears that you did not brush the afghan until after you dried the entire coat? Is that true or did you not film the brushing while the coat was still wet. Thanks!

  • @somemanband24 Pure Paws shampoos dilute 8/1. Adjust accordingly for your dog. You use enough shampoo to be able to put it all over your dog. Conditioners dilute 8/1 as well. You may find it convienent to put 8 parts water in a 16 oz spray bottle,. add 1 part shampoo, shake til blended well. Wet your hound, spray the shampoo all over. Rinse and repeat for best results.

  • Great, happy hounding and write us any time you have a ? as we will try to help!

  • Contrary to popular believe an afghan hound with proper silky coat is less work than a maltese (grooming wise) as they can go a week to 10 days without being groomed. They are single coated and maltese are double coated.

I teach my afghan hounds to lye on their sides for grooming, that way they can sleep while being groomed and the groomer can sit and watch TV while brushing. :)

    Thanks for the nice compliments!

  • I'm going to start a groomer career and I just love afghans and your videos!

  • @reddhedz I get their catalogs and never saw them but didn't think to ask lol so thanks for that Red ;)

  • @bayouroads You can find them at Frank Rowe & Son . com. I didn't see them on their site, but I bought some from them at a grooming competition. You can email them and ask how to order them. I got one before from Pet Edge .com but theirs was thin and arrived broken.

  • @Zukah1990 No, you don't remove the saddle hair first. That's the purpose of the pumice stone.

  • beautiful dog. I just found out what they were called. Now I would like to have one now that I am home a lot. I will keep your video on hand at all times.
