This is the apex of disillusionment.
Thanks for posting.

@BOBTheHeadBanger Eh, it may not be historically accurate but it makes for a good movie.

I probably would have killed Robert the Bruce. I hate betrayal more than anything else I can think of.

@MultiAngryguy So my point was why suggest in the first post that it was sad that people believed the English acted in that way when by even your own admission they did! Of course the Scots were brutal too but again my point was that the Berwick massacre was brutal and extreme even by those day's standards yet the film ignores it. There are many innacuracies in the film but the fact that England was the aggressor and the occupation would have been brutal is not one of them.

@gaconnochie ... Also this is what happened medieval warfare. The tactics England used were known as a chevauchée (scorched earth raid) by raiding local towns + the countryside you damage the enemy countries productivity and it means the local population will lose their will to fight (the English used this tactic during the hundred years war against France), it was no different to the allied/nazi bombings in WW2. Sure it was pretty shitty to do but that was the way people were back then.

@gaconnochie I meant its sad that people believe English people TODAY are still like this. Ive seen loads of comments on the internet where people still call the English greedy, blood thirsty tyrants (it isn't true of course, Scottish and English people can get along fine). I know England did alot of bad stuff during the medieval period but it also did alot of good stuff too, England was the only country that had the magna carta which allowed the barons more say in what happens in the country...

@gaconnochie Fair enough, I'll give you that.

St Albans though in truth the Scots didn't even go as far as Durham) to beg for peace. He tells her his story and she weeps then they kiss and she leaves. The film changes her into the Princess and they have sex. In truth the Queen had died long before the war and Edward I was some way off from remarrying and the future Princess was still a wee 6 or 7 year old girl living in France.

@alexgomez83 ." I doubt Wallace ever met the queen as well." The film is supposedly based on Hamilton's 18thC version of the earlier epic Scottish poem by Blind Harry. The poem itself has lots of inaccuracies in it and the film then changes much of the details of the poem too. So it isn't particularly true to either real history or the traditional Scottish story. In the poems the English Queen comes to Wallace whilst he is deep into English territory (it has him beseiging York and even as far as

THis is not what happened. Robert The Bruce Never Turn Coated against the Scottish Army nor Sir William Wallace. Even though Robert's father wanted him to reach a treatie with England, Robert would have rather threw himself on his own sword than to betray Scotland. Another example of Hollywood messing with true events for a decent story line. I have a 6 part documentary on Robert The Bruce on my page made by the BBC. If you want to know more about Robert The Bruce, go there and watch it.

Perhaps you're right. But more important for me is acting. The movie is good and powerful. I didn't expected to be 100% true, and actualy who can tell the 100% pure true? Anyway, thank you for your comment and I'll take a look on your page.
